South African Singer, AKA, Dies In Durban – Here’s Who Shot Him And Why

Popular South African singer AKA (birthname Jarryr Forbes) has recently passed away. AKA’s family, with deep sadness and grief, announced the singer’s death on Instagram.

It is reported that AKA was allegedly shot on the forehead in front of a restaurant in Durba, where he went to perform for his upcoming birthday celebration. The singer, along with a friend of his, died instantly on the spot.

Tributes have been flying around ever since AKA’s death, and even now, many South Africans still remember his death. In a statement published on their Instagram page, AKA’s parents stated that their son was taken from them too soon. The singer’s parents, Tony and Lynn Forbes, said that everything was going smoothly for him.

According to the learned academic Juggernaut and writer, Dr. Pupu Mpofu Walsh, he believed that AKA was destined for greatness. However, death, unfortunately, cut short his dreams.

AKA was born in Cape Town, or Mitchells Plain, to be precise. The city is one of the most violent places in South Africa, so one can only imagine the kind of life little Jarryd Forbes had to live. He spent his childhood with his grandma and mother before rising to fame in the early 2000s. His single, “Victory Lap,” was a hit.

With the successful release of his two hit albums in 2011 and 2014, he soon became a household name in the music industry. In 2018, AKA released “Touch My Blood”. It’s so unfortunate that the song is now a reality, as his blood has been touched.

Even though it’s been awhile since AKA died, the world is still in shock as regards his death. Our condolences are with his family and friends.

Why Was AKA Shot Dead

The truth is that no one actually knows the reason why AKA was shot dead in Durban. His parents, who announced his death on Instagram, do not know of any reason for what may have caused the death of AKA. The parents, however, rely on the statement made by the Durban Police. The police say AKA was shot dead by an assassin.

However, that’s not a reason why AKA was shot dead. There’s been no arrest, and many people are still waiting for the Durban police to provide some details. The police still haven’t revealed any possible reason why AKA was shot.

AKA was shot dead in a restaurant in Durban. The police say it was around 10 p.m. on a Friday night. The news circulating around is that two armed men approached AKA and his friend as the two singers were walking to AKA’s car. The reports from CCTV footage show that the men were putting on a white sweater and a black hat. When the assassins approached AKA, they shot him instantly.

According to the police, AKA’s bodyguards were shot too, but it’s not clear if they had died. However, AKA’s friend, who was with him at the time of the incident, died on the spot. As the “mission was accomplished”, the suspects fled the scene on foot. In time to come, the police hope to get more information on the singer’s death.

What Would AKA Be Remembered For?

Even though AKA died at the young age of 35, he will still be remembered for a lot of things. First of all, AKA will be remembered for his hit songs, such as “Prada” and “Fela in Versace”,  and all “All Eyes On Me”. The singer’s fans won’t forget his 2022 album, “Lemons”.

AKA once said he never wanted to be famous, despite being in the music industry since 2000. However, the afrobeat singer has many awards to his name, and if he had lived longer, he would have had even more. AKA won the 2019 Kids’ Choice Award. The rapper was nominated for a BET Award and an MTV EMA and even won a Kids’ Choice Award back in 2019.

AKA will also be remembered for partnering with popular singers, like Grammy-winning Burna Boy. However, it appears that both of them had a feud and parted ways when AKA supported a xenophobic attack on Nigerians living in South Africa.

AKA’s death touched everyone, to the extent that even the Gauteng province leader requested that the singer be titled “a natural hero”. However, the president of South Africa didn’t grant this request.
